Youth Racing Program
This program is led by NCCP Level 3 Coach and former Head Coach of the Mississauga Canoe Club, Bill Trayling and is for those individuals interested in Flatwater/Sprint Canoe and Kayak Racing. This program is the extension of paddle camp for those wanting to take their skills to the next level; however, new paddlers are most welcome!
Starting June 1, 2019 and for the month of June, practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 to 6:00 and Saturdays from 9:00 to 12:00. Throughout July and August, practices are daily in the morning, from 7:30 to 9 am for U16 and U18 athletes and from 9:30 to 11:30 for U12 and U14. Saturday practices are from 9-12 on non-regatta weekends. Age groups are as follows: U12, U14, U16 and U18. We understand that athletes have many commitments, including other teams, school and family vacations. Attendance at every practice is NOT mandatory. For more information and a detailed summer schedule please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The focus of the Youth Racing Program is to teach the fundamentals of sprint paddling with a focus on fun, water safety and participation.
All sessions will be at the Watts Boathouse, the Club's historic boathouse on Heritage Drive in Collingwood's scenic harbour.
There will be an opportunity for participation in out-of-town regattas.
All equipment will be provided by the Club, although we recommend each paddler bring their own properly fitted and approved personal flotation device (PFD) equipped with a whistle.
